EPSolar Charge Controllers

EPS is an innovative manufacturer who have designed solar charge controllers that work perfectly with the new value priced 60 cell solar panels like the SF-225 and SM-265MC. Their advantages for Canadian cabin owners include a greater harvest - from 15 to 25% over traditional PWM controllers. They do this my pulling the power off the panel at it maximum power point, instead of the battery voltage. They convert this power to 12 or 24V output through a high efficiency DC-DC conversion algorithm. Net result - more energy to the batteries.

10 years ago 60 cell modules needed very expensive MPPT charge controllers like the Outback FM-60s or Morningstar Tri-Star MPPT series. The EPS Tracer series are lower cost options which have enabled the use of the lower cost 60 and 72 cell modules in smaller solar systems. Now a single 60 cell solar panel can be used with a single charge controller like the EPS-MPPT-20, and offer not just the extra power from MPPT tracking, but digital metering as well. Larger systems with 2 or 4 panels can use the 30 and 40 amp versions.
